Rose Island Lighthouse

Stop #2 on the Jamestown Newport Ferry is Rose Island Lighthouse and the ferry provides the only public transportation to the island. Its fully restored and functional lighthouse and Fort Hamilton are open daily, May through October. Regular daily visits (during the season) include a general information tour by their island greeters or grab a self-guided tour brochure that lets guests explore the grounds on their own. Guests may be allowed access into the lighthouse in small groups, but should check www.roseisland.org for conditions and updates. Other activities include beach combing, fishing, bird watching and swimming (no lifeguard). Picnic tables and public toilets are available. If you plan on visiting the Rose Island Lighthouse you will need to purchase a roundtrip Jamestown Newport Ferry ticket as well as a separate Rose Island Landing Fee ticket. Both can be purchased on this site by clicking the "Purchase Ferry Tickets" button at the top of the page. The island is closed during fundraisers. We recommend parking in Jamestown to catch the ferry. For more parking info, see our FAQ section.
